The Breakthrough Leadership Foundation (BLF) successfully delivered the Winter/Spring 2025 Ascent Digital Bootcamp during February and March 2025 at two locations in Memphis, Tennessee. This initiative advanced our mission to equip, empower, and transform lives through digital education and workforce readiness, with a particular focus on underserved youth aged 14–26.
Through a collaborative model involving local businesses, nonprofit partners, and civic leaders, the program provided critical digital skills training to participants who largely entered with minimal online business experience. Over 92% of participants had no prior exposure to e-commerce. By the program’s conclusion, every participant had developed an operational online business presence. Within four months, one alum reported a 35% increase in online sales and began peer mentoring other community members — demonstrating early evidence of sustainable knowledge transfer and community impact.
Since our last report, BLF implemented two complete cohorts—one hosted at LeMoyne-Owen College and another in collaboration with Persevere—delivering more than 100 instructional hours supported by structured mentorship. The March 2025 showcase featured 125 participants, of whom 70–80% are already applying digital tools in entrepreneurial or professional contexts, including website management, social media marketing, and online commerce. Participants also leveraged their digital portfolios to obtain paid internships and summer employment, further reinforcing workforce integration outcomes.
BLF continues to leverage its community network to strengthen mentor recruitment, co-promote partner events, and build pathways toward inclusive economic participation. These efforts align closely with global CSR priorities centered on digital inclusion, youth empowerment, and sustainable workforce development. The program was recognized by the community in the following footage Greater Memphis on a Mission: Breakthrough Leadership Foundation (https://wreg.com/video/greater-memphis-on-a-mission-breakthrough-leadership-foundation/10893789/)
Your support was instrumental in expanding digital capacity, improving self-confidence, and fostering economic mobility among Memphis youth. The measurable progress of our participants reflects the broader vision we share — enabling equitable access to the digital economy and creating sustainable community transformation.
Thank you for your investment in local innovation with global impact.
Respectfully,
Vanessa Sweet
