One aspect of the Art Studio Worlds CHAI Life Arts programs is to give the students opportunities to explore via field trips and excursions. Many these are planned within the students local community, so they can experience all their city has to offer for the arts, wellness, culture, education and getting the students into nature. All aspects of these travel programs, whether local, national or international travel, arealways linked to a theme that has to do with BUILDING COMMUNITY locally and in nature. We discuss environmental issues and solutions and bring the students attention to opportunities that can support their career paths. For our programs in Florida we have beach days that are teamed up w/ the local parks and recreation and with local environmental groups for the ocean life, the ever glades and the Florida Keys. Other filed trips students explore museums, art galleries and local mural hot spots. Some of our programs in NC take students in to the forest for hikes and time in nature building outdoor classrooms where we gather for discussions about the surrounding trees and forest animals. As always we are using art integration aspects to teach the students. In many cases, math and science are put to practival use with these projects with measuring building and planning. We are looking forward to continuing our Travel Excursion and Field Trip projects with the students.
