Regenerate the Peruvian Amazon: Join our Community

by Alianza Arkana

Support a creative, collaborative learning community where donors can engage in conversations surrounding ongoing opportunities and challenges of working in the Peruvian Amazon. Alianza Arkana will offer virtual classes with experts like Fritjof Capra and Dennis McKenna, we'll examine key issues affecting indigenous peoples in the rainforest, looking for regenerative development solutions that honor traditional wisdom. You envision and support. We facilitate. Our indigenous partners lead the way

The Amazon Rainforest and its indigenous peoples are facing unprecedented changes. Environmental degradation by extractive industries; rural-to-urban migration; the denigration of traditional culture; colonial Western media, religion and consumerism all collude to unravel the ecological and social systems that have held the world in balance for centuries. Due to the Amazon's key role in regulating Earth's life-bearing climatic conditions, this threat truly does affect all of us.

This project will allow continued work with Shipibo people to: 1) support higher education for youth to professionally benefit their communities; 2) develop permaculture projects to provide healthy food, sustainable incomes, and regenerate the local landscape; 3) create ecological sanitation and waste management systems; 4) defend indigenous territories and natural resources from extractive industries; 5) use forum theater to empower women and girls; and 6) make community artwork for justice.

Long-Term Impact

Currently working with 5000 Shipibos, our goal is to effectively partner with the whole Shipibo nation (35,000 people) to co-create a web of healthy, vibrant communities that work symbiotically with the forest they depend on. Linked by permaculture impact centers, communities will pair landscape regeneration with entrepreneurship to create right-livelihood opportunities that cultivate awareness and sovereignty - growing sustainable economies, revitalizing culture, and educating for resilience.
