This project aimed at saving the girl child from female genital mutilation and offering them life skills and employerbable skill for their future survival.
Girls in Igembe are facing a number of challanges, one of the serious challanges is female Genital problem that affects their health and education. Further the stigma that goes along with the practice affects the girls and their mothers who might have been forced to undergo the same process due to traditional demands. The girls will undergo lifeskills training and will also benefit through skills aquisition in the mentorship/apprenticeship program.
the project will train the girls in alternative right of passage other than female genital cut, we will also train them on life skills and sexuall reproductive health education and then we will take back those who are willing to go back to school. the project will also put the girls into an apprenticeship/mentorship program in order for them to acquire skills that can help them in employement or starting income generating business.
The community will stop this negative and retrogressive culture/tradition and embrase education for all to ensure equity and equality for all. We will educate the 120 girls allowing them to rise out of poverty and participate fully in educating other girls as peer educators
