This project will start an Alternative Cultural Center in small town in western Serbia, providing a multi functional space for many types of cultural activities such as: art exhibitions, amateur theater, movie nights, poet nights, rock band and rock choir rehearsals and concerts and many forms of artistic workshops for all free of charge. Also the space will be provided for other NGOs who are working on improvement of life in our town and share the same values free of charge as well.
There is huge increase of migrations from small towns in Serbia towards Capital and large cities over the last 20 years many official statistics show. One of the reasons, beside economic, is low cultural offer where people can not develop their creative talents and express their artistic side. At the same time, many people that are involved in NGO activities are limited by logistics problems, such as lack of functional space for projects and activities development.
Center will provide many artistic and cultural workshops and events for people of all ages divided into groups during the whole year so they can develop their artistic and cultural potential as much as possible. Workshops of photography, mural and graffiti, theater, music, non formal education, etc. Center will also provide logistics long term support for all NGOs and individuals who are dedicated to improvement of life in the community and share the same values and vision.
All forms of art and culture are one of the best ways to develop critical thinking among people, especially youth, understand other cultures and heritages and also a way to embrace people to make some positive changes in their community. Boosting creative potential among people, especially youth, can effectively contribute to social and economic well-being and prosperity in long term.
