Our clubhouse and detained adolescents’ programs have had massive impacts on youths that have participated in them. Dairon, who spent some time in the System of Adolescent Criminal Responsibility (SRPA) as a teenager, consistently applied Tiempo de Juego’s methodology to his life, using sports, art and community work to empower himself. Through the programs he had available to him, he was able to move past his mistake and forge a new life for himself.

In March 2024, now as the National Trainer for our project, Dairon was invited to participate in the Global Freedom Fellowship in South Africa for formerly incarcerated leaders from around the world. This program, created by one of our partners, builds on the cross-border connection between social change, visionary leadership and the legacies of incarceration. The Fellowship fosters agents of change, builds transnational solidarity, fosters a shared sense of struggle and success, combats stigma against formerly incarcerated people, and ultimately instigates innovative justice work around the world. We are so proud of the hard work and dedication Dairon has shown on his way to earning his trip, and are looking forward to what we will all learn from his experience in South Africa!
