Please aid Nepal's farmers through radio broadcasts, fertilizers, seeds, water systems. Peace Winds provided immediate relief to Sundupalhowk district of Nepal following the devastating 2015 earthquakes. Peace Winds continues to partner with Nepal's farmers building water catchments, irrigation systems, training and tools. With local partner ISAP, we radio broadcast twice daily targeting production/costs, ag inputs/methods, leading to improved income opportunities and family security.
Small farmers in the rural district of Sindupalchowk, Nepal struggle to survive. With information about production and market costs, farmers can plan crops and produce to increase income. With improved water supply, farmers can work together to use and not waste this essential resource. With fertilizers and sees, women farmers/entrepreneurs can gain higher yields and income. Training and inputs lead to increased production and family security.
Peace Winds and its local partner, SABAH, are working with the farming communities within the Sindupalchowk District of Nepal increasing agricultural production through fertilizers and seeds, providing water systems that maximize distribution reducing waste, and providing training and information appropriate to farmers in this district. All are leading to better living standards through increased production, lower costs, better market information, and most importantly, to family security.
The long-term impact will be dramatic. Farmers will be able to provide security for their families, with less migration to cities where they cannot find acceptable employment. Women and girls will be increasingly engaged in the farmer community and gain increased security. Improved systems and use of water systems, provision of new technologies/tools, and access to production and market information will empower the small farmers to enhance their own lives and security.
