Dear community,

Thank you very much for all the support you've been giving to us.

We want to share with you some news about this project.

The childhood is still suffering the consequences of pandemia. In these times, most of the kids of Chile are able to go to the schools, so they're (little by little) becoming to a "normal life". Ever thought, the emotional consequences are still present, and the problems with socialization are growing. As an organization, we're working in order to help these kids. In the pictures to can see an activity, were the kids can play with other, learn something and socialize with other kids and adults.

For us, it is really important to promote the climate responsibility on the children's. After a lot of time of planning, we can finally tell you that next month, the construction of a greenhouse is going to start. This space will be for the community, adapted for kids too. The greenhouse will work as a tool to make our workshops. The kids used to love the activities related with plants and grounds, so we're really happy to give to them this space.

Dear Community,

We want to share with you some activities that we have done in the past months.

In February, we were able to share and enjoy the end of the summer with the kid of the Ludoteca and their families. We went to the beach in the city and organize a one-day little trip to Quintay, located an hour away from Valparaiso. These activities were great for the kids and their families to enjoy the nature, good weather and vacations.

In March, we faced a new lockdown. We continue the activities with the kids with virtual workshops, preparing a theater play of the history of Valparaiso. In the rehearsals we focus on the script, music and role-playing.

The extended period in lockdown was affecting the mental health and socialization of the kids. For that reason we came with the idea of the LudoBuzón, a local mailbox. In this mailbox the kids were able to express their feelings, ideas or just tell some news to their friends. The reception of this project was great! For that reason, we’re going to continue with this idea to become a new communication tool of the neighbor.

Also the economy of the families of the Ludoteca is affected. For that reason we help the community by organizing the supplying of food and vegetables. In this way, they can access to these products easily (Ludoteca acts as a warehouse) and decreasing the price. The families are really grateful for this activity, and they want to continue despite lockdown or pandemia.

Last week, after almost two months, the authorities announced the end of lockdown. So, next week we’re going to open Ludoteca again, respecting all the security measures. We’re really happy to meet again!

Thank you all for let us help the kids of Cerro Merced

Stay safe!

We're really happy to be in touch again! After some troubles with the platform, we're finally here to share with you all the work that we've done the last months.

In October, after 4 months in lockdown we were able to restart our activities with all the sanitary measures. Last year was really hard for everybody, so recreational activities became really important. That's why we decided to start with some hiking around the hills of Valparaiso once a week. This was a great time to connect with the kids, their families and our team, while we enjoy nature and make some exercise.

In addition, we restart the music workshop in our facilities with a lot of new instruments, so we can experiment with new sounds, talents and learnings.
Also we start with a new workshop "Taller semillitas", where the kids can express their feelings through art and fairy tales.

Despite all difficulties, 2020 was a good year because we were able to give a safe space to a lot of kids. That make us very proud and happy.
This is possible thanks to all the teachers and our kids. Fantasy and hope can be found all around our facilities, so needed at this time.

Thanks to you again, and we'll be in touch to tell you more about all our activities.

Be safe!

Dear community, hoping that you are doing well, we want to share with you some activities that we have carried out at La Ludoteca since the last time we wrote to you.

In Chile, the confinement situation continues, so we have persisted in holding the Music Workshop online, but aware that there were some children who couldn’t connect to a computer due to lack of resources, we began a successful campaign where we managed to donate 26 operative computers and cell phones that were given to children who needed them, both to carry out their school work and to attend activities that have been carried out at La Ludoteca.

Also, to commemorate Children's Day, we took a tour of Cerro Merced sharing songs, laughter, gifts and much much love with all the pertinent health precautions.

As you can see, despite the circumstances, La Ludoteca hasn’t stopped delivering smiles and love to the little ones. And we can't wait to meet face to face again.

Thank you very much for making this possible.
Stay safe!

Dear community, first of all, we hope you are safe and sound. We share with you the activities that we have carried out since the last time we wrote to you.

In February, before life as we knew changed, we launched the book: "LudoLibro: Historias de la casa de barro" (LudoBook: Stories from the mud house), which was created by the children of the Ludoteca, which reflects what this space means to them. Together we premiered a short film: "Ludo Movie", the first short film ever made by us, it was published on Facebook: Ludoteca Merced. We carried out all this in the Cultural Park and it was broadcast through the Portales radio, in the city of Valparaíso. It was a day full of laughter, stories, and games, where the boys and girls were able to share their experiences about the Ludoteca and the impact it has on their lives.

As soon as the quarantine for the Covid-19 started, we began to work with the children from their homes, which is why we have promoted different ways to stay close to the children and this is how we generated a YouTube channel, called LudoRandom (https: // www.youtube.com/channel/UCJ2YbqLk9ZM2wNCA45PlRJw) where we share workshops, talks, games, activity books and riddles with the community, so they can develop from their homes. Also for this scenario, we communicate from our network tips on health, hygiene, and activities, called Ludotips.

And finally, we start May with a very special workshop for each one of the children of the Ludoteca community. ”Taller en Música en Colores” (Color Music Workshop). Which has the objective that children can learn to play a musical instrument, through colors and games, in a participatory, creative, and practical way.

All these activities have a direct and positive effect on each child and would not be possible without your support. We are very grateful for having you and for your trust in this noble project.

We really hope you stay safe. Thank you.
