This project builds a medical clinic in Kalonge where 150 foot patients will be treated, also provides footwear, education for the prevention of podoconiosis and vocational training for their social integration.
The prevalence of podoconiosis, geochemical disease, oscillates around 45% in Kalonge where it is neglected by the healthauthorities. Patients are not treated because no money, staff and specialized structures, and abandoned to their sad physical, social and economic spells that lead to vulnerability, poverty, stigmatization, begging, vital despair. BADEC will offer them quality health care, prevention awareness, and learning trades for self-care. This reassures their health and well-being.
We identify the sick of the feet and drive them to the medical clinic that we operate and give the medicines, medical devices, shoes to distribute to the patients, or quality health care. We provide education and awareness (media, churches, mass, posters, etc.) to the sick and the whole community about the origin of foot diseases, signs and preventive measures. We learn trades (manufacture of soap, carpentry, cutting and sewing, etc.) to the patients of the feet for a self-care.
The project will provide quality health care and trades training to the 150 foot sufferers and will integrate them into the community through income-generating activities for self-care. This will ensure the health and well-being of their families. It will also contribute to the reduction of cases, through the knowledge and practice by the communities of the preventive measures of the diseases of the feet and the means of fight that are offered to them.
