Female Genital Mutilation is the most harmful cultural practice that contributes to Child marriage in Kenya. Through our End Violence Against Girls Programme, we will target 900 Kenya Somali Community's school going girls of ages between 5 to 18 years through 6 months Advocacy and Awareness building projects to reverse these retrogressive practices. This will lead to responsible and success you girls with a bright future.
Female genital mutilation as a gender issue in Kenya impacts negatively upon girl child. Kenya Somali Girls where the worst Female Genital Mutilation is practiced suffer common problems associated with it, such as early marriage, dropping out of school and other numerous physical and psychological type of sufferings.
This project will enable girls to be able to pursue there education full term without interference of cultural practices such as Child Marriage that lead to poverty. The rescued girls will be trained to become Female Genital Mutilation Champions and this will help in rescuing and helping other girls in future undergoing similar challenges.
The project will lead to Poverty alleviation since girls will be both educationally and economically empowered just like men to provide for their families and the communities around them. This will lead to great Kenyan Nation and also will lift the countries economy.
