Inspired by the idea of "aging in community" AMIA aims to maintain and improve the quality of life of elders, whom poverty and need for social coverage hinder a proper progress, promoting the possibility to move on into this stage of life with dignity and in fullness. We developed a comprehensive program for older adults offering quality socio-sanitary and cultural services that promote independence and support to older adults, prolonging the stay in their own homes and helping their families
The aging population is a global issue that represents an achievement for humanity as well as real challenges for our societies. A growing sector of older people is dependent and requires care and support services. Our Day Center for the elderly provides quality services that promote independence and support to older adults, avoiding loneliness and at the same time prolonging the stay in their own homes, offering help to their families to accompany the aging of their loved ones.
AMIAs Comprehensive Program for Elderly provides a framework of interchange among professional and peers, in a place where older adults feel they belong and can come together. We receive over 500 socio-economically vulnerable older adults on a daily basis. It has a dining room and spaces to develop different activities: Stretching, Yoga, Movies Debate, Vegetable Garden Project, Drama, Choir, Summer Camp and even solidarity projects handled by the elderly.
The Comprehensive Center combines social and health services, becoming a unique model and a reference in topics related to how to embrace ageing by innovative methods on Gerontology. By maintaining and improving the quality of life of the elderly it prevent an increase in their dependence and provides support to families who strive to keep older adults with disabilities in their environment avoiding unnecessary institutionalizations.
