Women and girls are mostly affected because they need to travel long distances to look for water thus spending a lot of time they could use doing other chores. Some girls miss school altogether and their study time is reduced. The area faces food availability as another challenge and some residents spend an average of a dollar to buy water daily instead of food. Reduced clean water availability causes water borne diseases that affects community especially children, and livestock.

This project will ensure access to clean water by community members by setting up a water kiosk in a central location and also provide water for a school This will reduce the amount of time spent by women and girls to fetch water. This way, valuable time will be spent on more valuable tasks such as running businesses and girls will have more study time. In addition, school children and the community as a whole will benefit from improved sanitation hence less prevalence of waterborne diseases.

Long-Term Impact

There will be improved sanitation in the areas hence reduced instances of water borne diseases. This will improve the health of the beneficiaries hence reducing money used on treatment and loss of lives. Community members especially women will have more time to engage in productive activities e.g subsistence farming that will improve diet. Girls will consistently attend school thus achieving higher education qualifications and becoming valuable members of the community.
