Teach A Man To Fish recently delivered two 5000 litre water tanks and the materials needed to begin a simple drip irrigation system for Ototo Secondary School’s vegetable gardens.
In usual circumstances nothing can be grown during the long dry season from June to October. However, now that Ototo has an irrigation system to keep their vegetable crops watered during the dry season the project can double its output each year. This means that double the number of students can continue attending secondary school using income generated from this project!
On top of this, students will learn how simple drip irrigation systems can be used to increase output back in their household farms, spreading lessons learnt across the neighbouring community.
Photographs will be coming soon so stay posted for further developments....
