Objective To provide services that will ensure the continued access to education for 10 children living with or affected by HIV with specific focus on the girl child providing her with care and support. Target Ten girl children infected or affected with HIV living below the poverty line.
Background & the Need Our services are in areas with a high density of HIV. Many young HIV widows with children or community orphans who live with their grandparents extended families or in small groups, Most of these widows are daily wage work or the families al live well below the poverty line. If the girls remain in school they are less likely to be forced to work or married off by the time they attain puberty.
This project will ensure that the girls get the full support they need to stay in school or be readmitted in school or enrolled in school.
The more girls that remain in school and do well and are gainfully employed eventually, encourages other community members to do the same, thus changing the culture through example.
