Improvement of six natural spring wells


The initiative is to supply clean safe running water, reduce mother to child death, water related illnesses and health risks by improving six natural springs in Butangasi village Masaba Sub county Busia district Eastern Uganda.

Challenges: The inadequate water supply in Busia is a major problem as the ratio of wells stands at 5:1.This means families spend many hours every day walking long distances to collect water. There are adverse consequences to this - it affects the performance of girls in school as they spend more man hours in the process of securing water than they would spend at school and this has increasingly contributed to increased dropout rates. Not only does walking for water keep children out of school


Solution: The project is intended to solve water shortages by reducing the distance to the water sources from 4miles-1mile through improving natural spring wells and create awareness about the dangers of using contaminated water and the need for proper hygiene and sanitation.

Long-Term Impact

Long-term project impact: More time to grow food earn an income. Girls will spend more time in class. Women & girls get their lives back.
