Dear friends,
A brief update to you all about this project:
Things are looking GREAT at the farm in Lunga Lunga, Kenya. Corn was harvested all throughout the month of August and tomatoes, peppers and eggplant are being harvested as I type. Local people are benefitting from these veggies, purchasing them at fair prices. A large Kenya store called Nakumatt would like to distribute the veggies through their stores...only thing stopping this from happening is the lack of a truck large enough to make the deliveries on time.
At this point, we are using both a motorcycle and a rented Toyota Hylux truck to get the veggies to market. We only rent the truck for three months at a time as we raise the funds needed to purcahse a truck of our own, hoping that one days, we won't have to rent one anymore. If you happen to know anyone who can help us with this need, please do let us know at tweaver@AFCAids.org or if you know of any grantors who might be interested in this wonderful project.
One thing that impressed me so much when I visited this project is the record keeping taking place. No computer is needed in order to do a good job, that is for sure! Every receipt, every purchase, every planting, harvest, sale, and distribution is accounted for - this is excellent.
If you'd ever like to visit this project, let us know...you can see what you've done by donating to our work. You'll smile, I guarantee it!
