A new borewell in Snehalaya

by Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity

As part of our effort to maintain the high quality of projects on our site, GlobalGiving regularly sends representatives into the field to visit our partner organizations and monitor the projects that are listed on GlobalGiving.

GlobalGiving representatives visited Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity’s projects at the Snehelaya campus in India in 2015. During the visits, a number of concerns were identified, particularly with the children's home and healthcare center projects.

Due to the seriousness of the concerns raised GlobalGiving has removed Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity from GlobalGiving's websites. This means that the organization can no longer receive donations through these platforms. Some of the concerns raised were in regards to a lack of policies and procedures to protect the organization’s constituents and employees. It should be noted that these concerns relate to the children's home, not the school on the Snehelaya campus.

Although Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity has indeed done great work in India, GlobalGiving has taken these steps to encourage Gwalior Childrens Hospital Charity to make necessary improvements, and to ensure integrity of our vetting process.

GlobalGiving takes the site visits very seriously: we consider them a part of our vetting and review process, and require them as part of our terms and conditions for nonprofits to join the platform.

We are committed to ensuring that our donors have a meaningful giving experience on GlobalGiving. If you are unsatisfied with your donation to this project, we can offer you the GlobalGiving Guarantee. The GlobalGiving Guarantee will come in the form of a gift certificate equal to the value of the original donation, which you are invited to contribute to another project on the site.

If you have any questions or would like to invoke the GlobalGiving Guarantee please contact GlobalGiving at inthefield@globalgiving.org

Nandita, New member of our family
Nandita, New member of our family

Dear friends,

Just a few days ago, an eight-year-old girl with multiple disabilities was found standing alone outside the doors of Snehalaya. We are happy to announce that we have taken her in as a new member of our family and named her Nandita. We now have 63 children, with the dream of helping many more. Our aim remains to make every child independent giving them a life with love, happiness and dignity.

These children remain some of the most vulnerable in the world, with nobody to care for them, no social services, NHS, medical aid or money for food and shelter, leave aside health and education and even parents mercilessly decide to abandon them. As part of our 'Sponsor a Child' program, for $40 a month, you can provide shelter, food, clothing, healthcare and education for children like Nandita.

Please consider helping Nandita through fundraising or donating whatever you are able to. GlobalGiving is adding 30% bonus for donations upto $1000 received on 15th June. Please consider donating on 15th June to avail this opportunity and help us more on http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/snehalaya-meaning-the-home-with-love-in-hindi/

Your continued help and support is much appreciated. Please get in touch with me for any questions or further information, with regards and best wishes,

BK

snehalaya children for special olympics

Since last report for progress of School and having completed the borewell with your help, we are happy to inform that ten of our children participated in Special National floor Hockey Championship for disabled children held at Shimla as part of team from Madhya Pradesh and won silver medal standing runners up. Six out of ten have been selected for special coaching being held in Agartala in April for selection for national team to participate in special Olympics to represent India's special floor Hockey team. We are sure with your blessings maximum of our children will get selected for Special Olympics to represent India.

We seek your support to carry it further and keep encouraging them to bring up the name of Snehalaya in International sports too. Other work continues. School construction is almost nearing completion and we hope we shall start it for the session starting in July 2011. We are much obliged for your support in helping us to bring up this work to this stage and I am sure for same to continues all the time. Please consider donating in March through our project on GlobalGiving and help our children reach International OlympicsSnehalaya meaning the Home with love in Hindi . All donations received in March and any additional grant by Globalgiving will provide for this training and coaching helping us prepare our children for special Olympics. We are sure of your generous considerations for helping us on this occasion as always so far.

Thanks again, with regards,

BK

The New Borewell in Snehalaya-

AS YOU KNOW alongwith ongoing facilities in Snehalaya, WE ARE PRESENTLY ADDING A SCHOOL TO OUR "SNEHALAYA COMPLEX", a new borewell is successfully drilled in Nov. and is providing water for the needs of Snehalaya and its children, thanks to our 81 supporters in Sept. through GlobalGiving. It was an experience for me to have seen the drilling to bring water out of 410 feet depth and then our team placing the motor and pipes in the indigenous manner. Now we have a permanent place on GlobalGiving for contributions by tax payers in USA with tax benefits through http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/snehalaya-meaning-the-home-with-love-in-hindi/

We request your support again this Christmas and for the New Year to assist us complete the school project as well to get solar power for the needs of Snehalaya, as hardly any electricity is available there. The School is – not only for "Snehalaya- the Home with Love" -- but with a capacity for 500 , the school will also be for children from the surrounding villages. The emphasis will be on girls (who will become self-reliant and confident!)  IN DECEMBER, YOUR DONATION IS AUTOMATICALLY DOUBLED!

Whatever you donate on line through given secure link (any amount from £5 to £5000) using your credit or debit card in the month of December will be doubled with a matching grant by the Reed Foundation and Trustees. We request you to donate as much you can and at the earliest before the year runs out.

Thanks a million. Merry Christmas and best wishes for The New Year,
BK
