This project will offer global care to 8 to 15 years old Medellins kids, highly exposed to these situations: no adult care, child labor, school abandon, abuse, mistreatment, drug addiction and risk to become street children. We will insure the presence of the children at school, and provide our care after it. We will offer them healthy food, homework assistance, psychological support and social integration. Our long-term project is to prepare them to access superior education and formal jobs.
Colombia is still a country where opportunities are constantly hindered for children: poverty, vulnerability, mistreatment, abuse or drug addictions are major obstacles to the development of kids potentialities. In Colombia, 50% of the children who begun their studies do not pass the baccalaureate, and 90% of them do not complete superior education. Most of the time, school abandon is caused by social issues, linked to the poverty and violence which broadly runs in the country.
The children will receive global and personalized cares after school every day of the year. We will guarantee their basic rights such as food, education and physical and psychological health. We will also work with their family, in order to train them to offer to the children the cares they need. Our children will be maintain in the school system and we will focus on offering them possibilities to access superior education (university, or technologic) and formal jobs.
The project will cooperate to solve Colombian structural troubles as social inequalities, youth drug problem, youth participation of narco-trafficking, teenagers pregnancies, school abandon and violence. 100 children will directly benefit from the project, and their families (approximately 400 people ) will also be impacted.
