The Lord's Place is located in West Palm Beach, FL and is a non-religious social impact nonprofit agency dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness for more than 1,500 clients a year. Through the gift of giving, it is our ultimate dream to help anyone who walks though our front doors and be 100% privately funded.
In Palm Beach County and throughout South Florida, the risk of homelessness posed to families is exacerbated by the extremely high cost of housing. Even more alarmingly, Palm Beach County ranks 2nd in Florida for the number of public school students who are homeless, with 3,702 students identified as such according to the School District. Affordable housing is scarce in Palm Beach County.
The solution is simple: Housing. Our women's campus has a waiting list of more than 100 women in need. We get multiple requests a day to move in to our men's campus and our family campus and our only choice is to expand supportive housing and graduate housing.
After more than 30 years of operation, The Lord's Place prides itself on research and evaluation. Last year, 95 percent of our clients were no longer homeless at the end of the year. Our impact proves that we are truly breaking the cycle of homelessness. We are reducing recidivism, intergenerational homelessness, re-arrests, and saving local tax payers money on emergency services by caring for our local people who are in need of assistance.
