Remote communities in Guatemala are trapped in a cycle of economic poverty and spiritual death. Through Training For Christ Ministry (TFC) our Lord provides full vocational school scholarships and spiritual Christian mentoring. Without TFC Ministry the alternative economic and spiritual choices would be dismal or non-existent. Our successes in what the Lord has been doing through TFC Ministry is evidenced by 100% graduate employment rate and a 100% acceptance of our Lord as Savior.
Simply put, the problem in the remote villages of Guatemala is economic stagnation coupled with lack of education, health care, and corrupt system that artificially keeps food and other prices high to ensure cheap labor. There are few seasonal jobs available that don't exploit and de-humanize. The youth are without future or hope. They are easy prey for drug cartels, prostitution, gangs and human trafficking. Through our scholarships and spiritual mentoring our youth have a chance at life.
When a student graduates from the Vocational/Technical Institute he/she receives national certification upon completion. To be a welder, motorcycle repair mechanic, computer repair, baker or any trade, one must be certified. Jobs equal economic freedom, an end to generational poverty. The end result is a lightened heart that is receptive and thankful for the grace the Lord has provided. For most TFC youth vocational training & spiritual mentoring are the only hope for a positive future.
Our impoverished youth need a "leg up" not a "hand out." They want to remain in their village and prosper. Our TFC dual mentoring program is the only way out of economic and spiritual poverty. Often, after graduation and securing a steady job, our youth are an inspiration and role model for siblings and the entire village community. Graduates are enthusiastic about sharing their new skills and talents - both vocationally and spiritually. Nothing says "impact" better than Jeremiah 29:11
