Global Engagement Summit Project Challenge 2009

The Challenge will begin at 12:01 am on April 17, 2009 and will close at 3:00pm EDT on May 8 2009. While the competition is open, participants will compete to generate donations for their projects. At the close of the competition, ANY Project that is able to raise a minimum of $4,000 and at least 50 separate donors will be invited to stay on at GlobalGiving. These projects will be eligible to continue receiving donations from the general public, private and corporate foundations through www.globalgiving.org.

The top three fundraising projects (most dollars raised) that meet the minimum threshold ($4000 raised from 50 separate donors) will also receive supplementary cash bonuses from the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) and GlobalGiving of $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. The project with the greatest number of unique donors (and meeting the minimum threshold of $4000 and 50 separate donors) will be awarded a bonus of $1,000.

Online donations will be accepted through May 8th, 2009. Checks received by May 7th , 2 PM will be included in the Challenge and will count towards the number of unique donors for each project. Checks received after May 7th will be applied to the indicated project, but will not count towards the Challenge. Checks should be made payable to the GlobalGiving Foundation and should clearly indicate the project to which the funds should be applied.

If a project chooses not to move forward with implementation within 180 days from the date of listing the project on GlobalGiving, the funds raised during the competition will be re-allocated to another winning project in the GES Project Challenge. The student responsible for the re-allocated project will have the choice to recommend which winning project from the GES Challenge will receive the re-allocated funds.
