Help us Create an Elderly Dog Shelter - Sicily
In the countryside and peripheral areas around the major Sicilian cities, it is not uncommon to find abandoned dogs and cats near dumpsters or among garbage piles, especially along provincial roads. These abandoned animals not only live in harsh conditions but since they are usually not sterilized, they reproduce, causing exponential growth among the canine and feline population. Many of them end up in the public kennels. The local public kennels are not only overcrowded with these stray animals but they also completely lack any form of sanitation and are poorly managed. We are now building a shelter to host many of the elderly dogs that have ended up at these kennels, with the hope to offer them a much deserved dignified existence.
