This project will fund emergency medical care for children inhouseholds served by Makindu Children's Program. When vulnerable children have traumatic accidents or the onset of a crippling disease, we want to provide help without hesitation, without taking funds from food support. Exams, imaging tests, supplies and physician's care are unavailable to our impoverished households who struggle to meet the most basic needs of food and shelter. MCP will provide care and medicines to restore health.
Medical care for the children is a fundamental concern and is a vital component of Makindu Children's Centre (MCC) services. For all children, access to healthcare is vital to their well being. Occasionally, a medical need arises that is overwhelming for the resources of the Centre. We want to be able to respond to accidents or tragic situations that require medical attention when they come to us for urgent and immediate medical help without diverting funds from our primary ongoing mission.
Establishing an emergency medical needs fund will improve the capacity for our Centre staff to make provisions for situations requiring urgent, but often expensive, medical care or tests without any funding delay, which could mean the difference between life and death for a child. These funds will help pay for specialized care and also devices like hearing aids, AFO leg braces, crutches and other medically necessary items.
With this project we will be able to respond to traumatic accidents or life-threatening acute illnesses for children within our care. Increased health care will provide security, comfort and encouragement to the guardians who struggle daily to provide the most basic of necessities for the children in their households, especially when an unexpected crisis arises.
