Reduce the suffering of unwanted puppies and kittens born into the streets of Nassau Village. We would like to hold a MASH spay/neuter clinic in April 2019 to complete approx 150 surgeries.
We will works toward solving the problem of animal overpopulation and educating the people of Nassau village on responsible animal ownership.
By spaying and neutering the roaming and 'loosely' owned animals we stop the repeated pregnancies hence a reduction in the population. By offering free or subsidized surgeries for owners of pets we will help educate them on the benefits of spay/neutering pets and the long term impacts.
1 unaltered female dog and her subsequent offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in only 6 years.*(peta) An unspayed female ca and all of their offspring, producing 2 litters of kittens per year, can produce well over 10,000 kittens in 5 years. This program will provide a dramatic reduction in the number of puppies and kittens will be born to suffer on the streets of Bahamas. Less stray animals also provide safer and healthier communities. Education will bring more compassionate behavior.
