GG Report from EYC’s “Provide Scholarships to 10 Cambodian Youth” project

Empowering Youth in Cambodia (EYC) is pleased to report that our campaign to fund “Provide Scholarships to 10 Cambodian Youth” was fully funded in December 2014, and we have distributed the first installment of these scholarships to the 10 beneficiaries since the beginning of the year!  This will provide real results in the lives of our students as they all either required this funding to be able to continue their studies or will be much better able to focus on their studies with less financial pressures.

Many EYC students are barely able to get by, lacking adequate income for living and education expenses. These scholarships for youth from poor backgrounds are part of the essential ingredient to breaking out of poverty; education.  Our teams are hard at work to support these young people in developing themselves including providing English language skills (key for entry level jobs like the service industry), computer skills training, and soft skills training designed to improve their communication and leadership skills as well as boost their confidence.  These scholarships will fund formal education programs and we expect most all of the students to complete their bachelor’s degree.  The long term impact is a sustainable path out of poverty!
