Hello Friends and Supporters,
Winter came later than usual here in Bihar.
But when it did arrive it was bitterly cold, a cold damp cold that gets inside your bones. However due to your response we were able to make sure all those considered most vulnerable in our schools or who attend our centres got the warm clothing and or blankets that they needed to keep warm and safe.
Blankets etc are not distributed in staged indiscriminate giveaway’s but are given carefully to the families we know who really need them. It also meant, as children came to us in our Rescue Centre, (sometimes shivering and in distress from the cold) we were able to immediately respond with warm clothing.
Hundreds of blankets, warm sweaters, woolly hats, infant warmers gloves and scarves were given during the winter period. which still lingers on with cool mornings and evenings.
Here’s what a village mother told me, “I sent my child aged seven years of age to the village school run by People First in bare feet and a thin torn sweater, I felt so bad I could not keep him warm and safe and I was on the verge of tears, when Neelam the nurse from the Heath project run by People First arrived at my door with a full set of warm clothing for my child, including a really thick pair of socks, shoes and a great big woolly hat!
Thank you so much !!
May we wish you all a great New Year!
Deepak
