Christmas may be a wonderful time of year for some, but it's also a time when feelings of loneliness, depression and anxiety can be overwhelming. This year is going to be tougher than ever as many of us will be feeling the strain of the last 9 months. Our volunteers will be there, as always, round the clock, to offer emotional support to anyone that needs it. You can help us be there for people that have no-one else to turn to. Help us change someone's story this Christmas.
This year, more than any other year, our volunteers are needed to be in the branch, around the clock, over Christmas period. We answer the phones, reply to emails and engage in web chats to enable people who are going through a difficult time to contact us in the way they feel comfortable with. We expect this holiday time to be very busy as we have all had to deal with so many uncertainties this year.
Every call we answer could be the one that saves or changes someone's life - the call that ends with someone finding the strength to keep going. For many people struggling to cope, we could be the only helpline open when many other services are closed. The only chance they have to share their story and their pain. By supporting us this Christmas, you're helping make sure we're there to listen, when someone needs us most.
Thanks to your support & donations, a Samaritan was there to answer Jason's call for help. Talking on the phone helped him to realise that he could find the strength to carry on and that he didn't have to face the future alone. Jason has become a mental health ambassador. "Samaritans helped me realise I needed to take action and take care to change things. It was the most important call I've ever made." - Jason, one of our callers.
