Restored an inherently sustainable source of water that the rural poor of Pathroda village (900 people) are in utmost need. This pursues water conservation through rebuilding their traditional water management system (Talab & Khel) to assist in accruing the sporadic rainfall that occurs in that arid region of the Aravalli ranges (Rajasthan, India). Ensured continued supply of water for human, livestock and crop irrigation, and also significant increased in the level of the water table.

Rajasthan is the largest state in India, accounting for 10% of the total area but with access to just 1% of the country's water resources. In this state, the Pathroda village, with 900 people and 4000 livestock, is facing an acute water scarcity and vulnerability to drought.

Ensuring water supply to human as well as livestock of the village, by utilizing traditional water harvesting technology.

Long-Term Impact

Restore "orans" to their pristine, sustainable green environment; develop better management practices of the rural ecosystem; secure the rural livelihood of millions; preserve endemic/endangered species and variety of cultivars found within orans.
