This project will provide a university scholarship to a teacher at Human and Hope Association in Siem Reap, Cambodia. By providing Bunrong with a scholarship we will ensure he is able to complete his tertiary studies without financial stress. He will be able to utilize the skills and knowledge he learns in his role as English and Khmer teacher to around 80 children in our commune.
More than 20% of Cambodians live below the poverty line. Our English and Khmer Teacher, Bunrong was born in rural Takeo Province, Cambodia. After graduating from high school he moved to Siem Reap to study. Due to a lack of funds he worked as a waiter for a year. After saving some money, in 2014 he began studying a Bachelor of Education and this year began working at Human and Hope Association. he still struggles to pay his university fees on top of his financial responsibilities to his family.
We would love to bring Bunrong into our university scholarship program. While on the scholarship, Bunrong will be committed to working at Human and Hope Association. Therefore, he wins by not having to worry about paying for his education while HHA also wins by having a committed member of our team for the next two and a half years who will use his education to educate others and move them out of poverty.
Not only will Bunrong receive an education that will enable him to have a brighter future for himself and his family, he will be able to share his knowledge with our community who we strive to move out of poverty. "I am very excited with this job at Human and Hope Association. I can share my knowledge to students and I definitely improve my English language quickly. I also share my experiences to teamwork as well as students. Especially, I can make children have fun and protect them to be good."
