MADRE operates a network of shelters in Iraq. The network provides secure transportation, shelter, food and clothing for women and their children who are fleeing their homes. Our partners there have informed us that there is an urgent need for blankets and heaters due to the plunging temperatures and lack of supplies. Four shelters need a total of 40 blankets and 12 heaters. Your help will enable us to purchase and distribute these desperately needed relief materials.
Winter is coming in Iraq and temperatures are plunging. At the women shelters we support, there is an urgent need for blankets and heaters. Currently, there are four safe houses that need a total of 40 blankets and 12 heaters. This project will provide the needed supplies for roughly 40 women and their children, who have arrived at the shelters with almost nothing after fleeing life-threatening violence, to stay warm this winter.
We will provide 40 blankets and 12 heaters for four women shelters in Iraq. These supplies will benefit roughly 40 women and their children this cold winter.
In addition to covering the costs of immediate needs such as medical care, food and shelter, these projects use human rights training programs to empower women to extend support to other victims and build the skills to be agents of change. Through these programs, women build their capacity to advocate for the full range of women's rights.
