This Project will develop the well being of citizens of District Two, Grand Bassa County by training 25 Local Government Representatives (LGR) to effective leadership and advocacy. The workshop will highlight the values and principles of effective leadership and advocacy, their practices, and with emphasis on developing skills for group facilitation, public speaking and community mobilization. They will then be asked to initiate a project they are passionate about in their community.
Social inequality is prevalent in the District due to poor representation of LGR. Farmers agriculture products get damage due to the lack of farm road to market. Families against their will send their children to relative for school due to poor childhood education . Women and children in the District stay drink from shadow water. Pregnant women walk over 2 hours to have access to treatment or delivery. Decision over the use of forest and mountain is made by government rather then the community.
We proposed to conduct a Targeted Interview and mind mapping concept to help the community initiate project they are passionate about. Organized a workshop for 25 local government representative, to be able to mobilize the community to generate group action for sustainable development. Put them into corroborative to make decision and policy over their own initiative, forest and mountain.
After a year, LGR will acquire the ability to secure save drinking water, childhood education, and medical facility for citizens in the District through effective leadership, advocacy and community mobilization. Farmers will have access to farm road to market to get their agriculture products to the market for sale, and the community will make decision on the way their forest and mountains can be used through knowledge LGR will acquire from the Workshop.
