Summary

During the Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone, teenage girls (particularly those orphaned when their families passed away) were out of school and more vulnerable to rape and sexual assault. Many of them became pregnant and are now new mothers. Some of them attend classes at Creating Pathways Centre to continue their education and find employment. This project will help ensure that 4 students at the Centre continue their schooling by providing them with a full scholarship to attend college.

Challenge

The inability of a young mother to continue school can be one of the most harmful and psychologically distressing aspects of motherhood - with an additional crippling, long term, career impact. They need help to continue their education. This project will ensure that Abibatu, Isha, Hawanatu and Narisha receives the higher education they need to pursue their chosen careers.

Solution

We are offering a viable alternative and support to help these young mothers continue their education. Funds from this project will help them attend college and eventually become successful in their desired future professions.

Long-Term Impact

Healthy, well-educated and emancipated women are an excellent foundation for a new and free society. Your support will help Abibatu, Isha, Hawanatu and Narisha to finish college, become independent and self-sufficient. In their chosen future careers, they will also be contributing to national development.
