Progress Report of our Microfinance Loan Program

Chhorvean

We have given out 19 loans to our villagers and six of them had repaid 100 percent. They used our loans for their businesses such as: selling vegetables, growing vegetables, selling food, selling flowers, home store selling, rubbish collection, carving and raising livestock. They have also joined our budgeting workshop and child protection workshop.

Most of their repayments are fine. Only some of them that have some problem with their businesses and repaying back, but we are delaying and trying to deal with them.

We are no longer providing loans to villagers who want to raise livestock because through our experience this business idea was not a successful one as most of them had lost money. This year, we aim to provide 10 additional loans to our villagers to expand their existing businesses as well as to set up their new businesses.

Profile of Loan Recipient "Chhorvean"

Chhorvean is a homestore seller selling many kinds of beverages, rice and children food in her village. She took out our microfinance loan when she didn’t have money to buy rice to sell as the villagers owed her money, which they promised to pay back when they have money. Rice is her best sell and make good profit of everything in her shop.

She took out $200 and repaying in weekly in the period of forty weeks. With our loan, she could buy eight bags of rice, so she can continue her best sell business and then through her profit, she can buy more beverages to sell. Furthermore, she also learned budget training and child protection, so she has knowledge about managing and saving money and understood about child right and abuse. After learning budget training, she decided to save with us R 5000 ($ 1.25) per week which she will get back after repaying the loan and she has also saved money at home aims to buy the laundry machine. She has just finished repaying our loan. She is very pleasure to work with due to her friendly and good character.

“HHA microfinance helped me to have the money to buy rice and buy more beverages to sell and I know how to save money. The repayment was really easy for me because it was not much money each week.”

– Chhorvean, Microfinance borrower
