This last year has been a year of challenges, fears, and stress. COVID 19 was particularly difficult on our youth who had to move to a virtual platform with challenges of affordability and connectivity. We have a partnership with a volunteer Counselor who meets with our students who are struggling. Currently our need exceeds our ability to support students. Our goal is to have an additional Counselor with four students in therapy plus two monthly group activities for all our 51 scholars.
Our students are affected by today's challenges just like many people are. We are seeing an increase in anxiety, stress, isolation, and lack of motivation. Many of our student's have been affected by family members who have contracted COVID19 and several have lost a loved one. We currently have a wait list for Counseling services. We are in need of a an additional Counselor.
We are challenging ourselves and you as our partners to raise funds to support the behavioral health program for the 2021- 2022 school year. Just $1,500 will support students for the entire school year. Our goal is to have 4 students in therapy plus two monthly group activities for all our 51 scholars in forms of seminars or group therapy each month. When therapy is complete new students will be taken in for therapy.
Since our inception in 2006, 152 bright, financially challenged students have benefited from University scholarships. Our goal is to continue to empower and educate additional students, equipping them to go back to improve their communities of origin. This support will allow current scholars to face the many challenges we are living due to Covid-19. Help our students to regain confidence and improve resiliency. Your donation can ensure that no young adult is turned away from a needed support!
