Challenge

Guardians/care takers from rural families in Uganda are battling with medical expenditure burden, most of these care takers are grand parents living with grand children. These guardians can not afford taking children for better health services, many children below 5 years die because of lack of better medical care. This Insurance should save families from having to spend a disproportionate share of their income on health services and from the fear of financial ruin.

Solution

The most vulnerable 300 needy children between 1 to 5 years will benefit from the comprehensive health insurance, this insurance will cover all medical expenses for 12 months. Benefits for children will include comprehensive care for acute illnesses, chronic illnesses, and handicapping conditions, as well as health supervision, with appropriate laboratory tests and immunizations in accordance with the schedule recommended by the Ministry of Health Uganda

Long-Term Impact

This project is inline with Mountains of Hope vision which aims to see all children attain better health. Children will enjoy life in its fullness while enjoying better health services in the country.
