GlobalGiving Campaign Report

October 2013

Junior Achievement of Northern New England (JANNE) is deeply grateful to all our donors to the GlobalGiving Campaign.

The JANNE GlobalGiving project was to deliver 14 financial literacy education programs to 323 New Hampshire students in kindergarten – 12th grades.  We are pleased to report that, in the 2012-2013 academic year, JANNE surpassed this goal and reached a total of 5,950 New Hampshire students through 252 JA programs.

What we must remember is that the JA experience can be equally as rewarding for our volunteers as it can be for the students we serve.  Please take a moment to read this testimonial from a volunteer at the Wilson School in Manchester, NH:

“I wanted to share with everyone the experience I have had at the Wilson School in Manchester, NH working with Ms. Tammy McLaughlin and her class of 24. Over the course of six weeks I conducted a class on Entrepreneurship and Financial Literacy with a group of 4th graders.

Our class delved into business vocabulary, the competencies entrepreneurs hold, and business development.  We developed a game store with a strong focus on inventory, advertisement, capital resources, and human resources. We advertised our business in a number of ways including; television commercials, a carnival, and monster truck endorsements.  I am so proud of what my class accomplished and it is evident that they embraced the program based on their incredible exit test results.

This experience has been completely eye opening.  In the small business realm I meet a variety of people who have creative and innovative ideas, however it was so interesting to see what business is to a 9 year old.  I’m thrilled that I was able to make an impact and I look forward to other volunteer opportunities similar to this.”
