WISDOM'S DETERMINATION YIELDS LAND FROM DONOR

By Eva Lokko | CEO

Wisdom at Totally Youth
Wisdom at Totally Youth

Wisdom's commitment and determination to get out of poverty has been noticed by some local land owners who have pledged to provide a plot of land free to Wisdom to start his farm. The land which is located in the Volta Region of Ghana will be handed over to Wisdom at the end of this week. Totally Youth will be paying for his transportation and meals as well as for the legal documentation of his ownership of the land.

The land owners were impressed with Wisdom's willingness to start a vegetable garden at Totally Youth's Backyard. He has already planted some tomatoes which he is carefully nursing. The tomatoes will be ready to harvest and sell at the end of July 2014. This will earn Wisdom some small amount of money towards buying more seeds of several crops (tomato, okro, garden eggs and peppers) to plant both at the TY Backyard.

However, for Wisdom to be able to make good use of his soon-to-be-acquired farm land, he would need to procure several essential farming tools (wheel barrow, pickaxe, spade, pegs, watering cans, sprinklers, shed, etc). He will also need support for daily transportation to and from the farm and for utilities for at least a period of four months.

We would therefore be very grateful, if you could consider donating any amount of money towards Wisdom's farm. This will help him acquire the necessary essential tools, continue with his mentoring and capacity building and start his farming business. This will get him out of poverty and put him on the journey of supporting himself. Most of the crops he plans to grow take three to four months before they are ready for harvesting. Harvesting could take a week or more and selling could take another week or more. Wisdom will therefore need all the help he can get to help him get into farming sooner rather than later.

The good news is that, preparing Wisdom's farm land, planting, harvesting and selling his crops, will all require labour. Wisdom will therefore be providing jobs to at least 10 more unemployed youth on his farm. This therefore a real case of Youth Creating Jobs For Youth and your support will yield 10 fold of impact and outcome.

Wisdom's farm project - Help Wisdom to Farm - is taking part in the June 26, 2014 Microsoft YouthSpark through GlobalGiving. We will be very grateful if you will consider donating towards his project so that it can earn matching funds. Your timely donations will help us give Wisdom the timely support he needs to succeed.

Thank you so much for your generosity to TY projects and especially to Help Wisdom to Farm. May your donations yield a hundred fold of benefits to you and your family. God bless.
