Help victims like Scribbles and mom Fonda in 2023

A microproject by Pathways to Safety International
Help victims like Scribbles and mom Fonda in 2023

Summary

Every year, dozens of victims of abuse abroad with pets reach out to us desperate to understand how they can flee home back to the USA safely with their beloved pets. Escaping abuse across international borders is very complicated. Most victims with pets need additional safety planning including securing veterinary certificates under the nose of their abusers without raising suspicion. This project will help us help victims like Fonda and her precious fur baby Scribbles get home safely.

Challenge

Approximately 9 million Americans live in foreign countries. Fleeing abuse back home is difficult. Trying to also bring pets home when fleeing abuse can seem like an insurmountable task.

Solution

With this project we will be able to provide email support to victims with fur babies desperate to come home including safety planning, helping them navigate resources, understanding their options and provide emotional support.

Long-Term Impact

We will provide services to 24 American victims with pets in 2023 while they are fleeing violence. Our goal is to have all of them reach safety with their pets and live their lives without violence in their homes.
