This project should help the Andrey Rylkov Foundation (ARF) not to cease to exist due to the unfair and enormous for us fine being imposed on our organization by the Russian authorities but to continue to do our work by providing people who use drugs on the streets of Moscow with access to required for them health and harm reduction services.
On 25.10.2018 the Zyuzinsky District Court in Moscow has fined the Andrey Rylkov Foundation for Health and Social Justice (ARF) in the amount of 800 000 RUB for publishing a text on how to reduce harm from using "bath salts" in the specialized magazine being distributed by ARF among people who use drugs on the streets of Moscow within our outreach work aimed on the prevention of HIV and other negative consequences of drug use. This text was considered as "propaganda of narcotic drugs".
This project should help our organization to pay the fine imposed on us by the Court and continue to do our HIV and overdose prevention work among people who use drugs on the streets of Moscow. The fine is an equivalent of 12 000 USD of which we already managed to collect 4 000 USD and we have less then two months to collect the rest.
ARF believes that the society should be able to protect its most vulnerable members, such as drug users. If the government refuses to help, the NGOs should help. Our work is aimed at protecting the vulnerable. ARF helps drug users to protect their health, their dignity and human rights. We help to prevent HIV and hepatitis, avert overdose, and obtain drug treatment. Our mission is to give people hope and the support they need so much! Your support will allow us to continue our work in Moscow.
