Many families and schools in Liberia do not have the ability to ensure that their children receive a quality education. 84% percent of the population lives below the international poverty line (1.25 U.S. dollars/day), notably in rural areas (UN, 2013). This project will help 5 children with all their school related expenses-to include tuition, books, school supplies and related school expenses.
Due to a lack of means, many children in Liberia do not attend school at all. The Liberian education system is emerging from a prolonged and brutally destructive period of civil unrest. Liberia is significantly behind most other countries in the African region in nearly all education statistics.
This project will reinforce and boost education by providing scholarships for 5 children covering tuition, uniforms and school supplies for a year.
Underprivileged children will get a decent education - transforming their lives and providing opportunities for growth, and contribution to national development. By upgrading the quality of education offered in schools, we will be helping to transform communities and the entire nation.
