Our tailoring program has taught over 150 individuals. The classes have grown large enough that there is no longer adequate machines for the tailoring trainees to use. We also need to replace worn-out machines. This project will provide 10 regular sewing machines and 1 special machine that embroiders / adds patterns or designs. Access to these new sewing machines will allow more students to master their tailoring skills and earning potential for future income-generating opportunities.
This project will solve the problem of sewing machine shortage / unavailability. It will also provide an advanced embroidery machine - enabling the trainees to further develop their skills. The provision of these new sewing machines will enhance learning as trainees will be exposed to and able to use modern, professional-level tailoring equipment. This will enhance their earning potential when they graduate - helping them become self-sufficient.
This project will provide the funds needed for purchasing 11 sewing machines. This will diversify learning opportunities and enable participants to be better trained and gain a higher level of tailoring skills. The provision of these vital tools will transform their learning abilities.
Youths and young adults will be empowered to move from poverty and unemployment to self-sufficiency. It will contribute to youth development in skills for self-reliance and entrepreneurship, creating employment opportunities for disadvantaged youths. Additionally, this will help provide a source of income to support the school as they will be able to produce a higher quality of garments - embroidered, etc.
