According to UNICEF, girls continue to suffer severe disadvantage and exclusion in education systems throughout their lives. An estimated 31 million girls of primary school age and 32 million girls of lower secondary school age were out of school in 2013. Gender disparities increased in secondary and tertiary education. The majority of these girls live in sub-Saharan Africa. This project will help ensure that Alisha continues her schooling by providing her with a full scholarship.
Families with limited funds to educate their children focus on sending their boys to school, and many girls who start school drop out because their parents cannot afford to continue to pay for their education. Alisha's father does not earn enough income to meet their basic needs and he cannot financially support her schooling. This project will provide a full scholarship for Alisha covering her tuition, books, school supplies and related school expenses.
Funds from this project will help Alisha continue her education and eventually become a lawyer - her desired future profession. Your support will help provide all she needs to be successful in school and ensure that she completes her education.
Your support will help Alisha to finish school, become independent and self-sufficient. In her chosen future career as a lawyer, she will also be contributing to national development. Healthy, well-educated and emancipated women are an excellent foundation for a new and free society.
