More than 200 million (around 2/3) menstruating women in India do not have access to hygienic sanitary protection. Poor menstrual hygiene practices not put the women at risk of various infections and diseases, but also they lose their self esteem and suffer in silence. In times of Covid pandemic, where health and hygiene is of utmost importance, through this project, we aim to supplement poor girls with sanitary products and improve their health and the quality of life.
While menstruation is a normal phenomenon, which is an essential feature of a woman's reproductive ability, yet girls and women in India go through extreme struggles to manage their menstruation cycle every month. The situation is grim when 2/3rd of the menstruating women in India don't have access to Safe Sanitary Products & Practices. The project aims to safeguard the vulnerable girls of India from infections, diseases and losing esteem by giving them sanitary pads & ensuring health & dignity.
The fund from project shall provide a packet of health and dignity to these women who cannot afford to buy and have no access to Sanitary Pads. It shall give her protection for one month and keep her healthy and confident to face life. The girls shall continue their education, who otherwise tend to drop out during their monthly cycles and shall build a bright and self-reliant future for themselves.
In India, usually, most of the girl children tend to drop out of schools, once they are menstruating. A packet of Sanitary Pad and awareness around it shall inculcate a habit within girls & communities towards safe & hygienic menstruation practices. This shall help them to lead a healthy, hygienic and longer life, help them remain in schools and complete their education. We, through a sanitary pad, are also helping them to become economically contributory and we can serve SDGs 3, 4, 5,10
