Prosperou is five years old and has 3 siblings. Her family home has no electricity or running water. At home, her chores include helping her mother cook and bake bread to sell. She enjoys going to school and loves writing, reading, and science, and soccer. Her family desperately needs help with covering her school-related costs so she can continue school and advance her education. Funds will cover her tuition, school charges, uniforms, books, school supplies, etc.
Because of poverty, many children in Liberia do not attend school at all. The Liberian education system is emerging from a prolonged and brutally destructive period of civil unrest. Liberia is significantly behind most other countries in the African region in nearly all education statistics. Many families and schools in Liberia do not have the ability to ensure that their children go to school or stay in school.
Together, we will help Prosperou stay in school this year. This is a huge step and will make a difference. Funds will cove her school-related expenses including tuition, books, school supplies, and uniforms. Because of our support, her dream of finishing school will stay alive.
Prosperou - one more gifted child - will continue her education. By investing in her continuing education we are ensuring she does not drop out of school. She will move one step closer to becoming independent and an educated member of her nation. Soon, she will be in a position where she can contribute to national development.
