In some of Africa's largest slum, many girls survive on less than $2 a day, facing barriers to education & economic growth. With your support, we can reach 400 girls in Nairobi's urban slums, where access to menstrual products is urgently needed. By supporting this project, you will directly impact the lives of these girls, giving them the confidence, education, and tools to thrive. Together, we can create a brighter, more equitable future by helping girls with their menstrual needs.
In some of Africa's largest slums, many girls survive on less than $2 a day, facing barriers to education & economic growth. Period poverty is an urgent crisis, forcing 1 in 10 menstruating girls to miss school and hindering their future opportunities. Kenya's youth face cultural & economic challenges, with lack of menstrual products forcing many girls to miss school and opportunities. This disrupts education, isolates them socially, and worsens risks like teenage pregnancies. We can fight this.
We believe that every girl or women should be able to go to school or work and not losing out because of such as period. And we have the right components to resolve this in a sustainable, empowering and educational way. Through our program, we will distribute reusable menstrual products, offer life-changing training, and create safe spaces. In 2023, we distributed 1,350 menstrual cups and trained 5,000 girls, reducing absenteeism and enabling girls to stay in school.
We aim to support 100,000 girls with access to reusable menstrual cups and training. In 2023 alone, distributing 1,350 cups and training of 5,000 girls led to fewer missed school days during having their period. The initiative drives environmental impact by replacing disposable products with reusable, biodegradable cups, cutting waste and promoting sustainability. Empowering women through female-led production further boosts economic opportunities, creating lasting benefits for communities.
