This project facilitates Health workers to test children whose HIV status is un known, we organize transport for the guardians to take children for testing, provide food and drinks while in the center as well as buy testing kits and first aid to children,most mothers in Rural areas in Uganda do not give birth in hospitals, so most of the children are not tested and do not know their HIV status, some of them suffer AIDS related disease of which they do not know the cause.
It was estimated that 2.3 million children under the age of 15 years are living with the virus, mainly as a result of mother-to-child transmission of HIV (MTCT).More than one million children in Uganda are currently living with HIV-related chronically ill family members and will become orphans unless appropriate care and treatment is provided,unfortunately more than one million children do not know their HIV sero status
The project will facilitate the District Health practitioners to carry out a thorough comprehensive HIV/AIDS testing and counseling, will buy testing kits, provide transport to the children and food during the exercise, when children are tested,it enables the project to support the infected children directly
Mountains of hope wants to help children living with HIV to grow up to become healthy, productive adults, We want to spread successful model by developing HIV care that will help the children in rural areas. The project will also support needy families with Monthly food, Vegetable gardens, school fees, free medical care, psychosocial support, and support groups
