This past February, Cyclone Freddy hit Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi, lasting a record 36 days. By March, the storm had killed nearly 1,000 people while displacing roughly 1 million more. Although the cyclone has now dissipated, heavy rain and thunderstorms have continued, and affected communities are facing critical humanitarian needs. ActionAid is providing access to safe drinking water and latrines, distributing food and cash transfers, and creating safe spaces for women and girls.
Through our signature community-led approach, our teams are responding immediately. We're providing critical supplies like food and shelter to communities impacted by the floods. We're also continuing to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and the whole web of injustices that make these crises disproportionately affect people in poverty.
ActionAid will continue urgent assistance through providing food, water, sanitation and hygiene supplies, and other efforts for relief. Thanks to your donations, we will continue to provide relief for women, children, and other vulnerable communities in Mozambique.
ActionAid's response is community-driven, women-led, and rights-based, which means your donation today invests in change that lasts. Your gift helps us respond to this crisis and support human rights around the world.
