Dear Donors,
On 24.02.2017, an "Awareness Programme on Child Sexual Abuse" was held at the Aided School in Naadaar Chathiram. Children from our special schools for child labourers and children from the Aided School in Naadaar Chathiram attended the programme. You must be happy to note that the benefit reached more number of children than the targetted 100 children.
The programme was organised in coordination with the Young Indians, Trichy Chapter and the Lions Club of Metropolitan, Trichy. Mrs. Veena Vibhusini, the consultant psychologist, was the resource person. She talked to the children on how they may be abused sexually and by WHOM. The children were made to have a greater impact by showing slides, charts and video on child sexual abuse. It had been an interactive session. The children were asked to SHOUT when they face an abuse or run out of the place. They were taught the techniques to face an abusive situation and whom to approach when some unforeseen event happened. The teachers felt that the topic handled is quite useful to the children and is the need of the hour. Felicitations were given by the office bearers of the Lions Club who participated in the programme and the programme ended with vote of thanks and the national anthem.
We received a donation of $493 from you dear donors. The Lions Club of Trichy Metropolitan donated $22 for training materials. Training materials worth $53 were bought for the programme. Mike and LCD projector costed $28. TA $118 was given to the children from our different special schools for child labourers. The children were given tea, snacks and a delicious lunch costing $157. Other expenses related to the programme amounted to $57. The balance is $102 and this will be set aside to conduct a similar programme. Thank you dear donors for the support.
