Amaya Needs To Escape Her Stepfather In Turkey

Summary

Amaya's father died when she was only ten. Her mother remarried a man from Turkey a few years later and they moved to Istanbul. Amaya doesn't remember exactly how old she was when her stepfather started to come into her room at night. Amaya is afraid to tell her mother because her stepfather told her he would kill her mother if she told anyone. Amaya is turning 18 soon and we are going to get her home to the USA and help her start a new life.

Challenge

Amaya is a victim of sex abuse by her stepfather. She is afraid to tell anyone. She has reached out to us as her 18th birthday is approaching and she wants to escape back to the USA. With this project we will be able to fly Amaya to a city where her paternal grandmother lives, in a cozy, safe home. Amaya feels that once she is safe, she can tell her mother. She is hoping her mother will come home too.

Solution

Amaya will be able to get back home safely to the USA to live with her paternal grandmother and stop the sex abuse from her stepfather in Turkey.

Long-Term Impact

The project serves 500 women per year empowering them to find alternatives to a life of violence so their children grow up in violence free homes with their self-esteem in tact with the hope of stopping the cycle of violence in future generations.
