This micro project will facilitate purchase of a 20 liter mixer to 35 at risk youth in central Uganda,(HIV infected, sex workers, those living with People living with HIV etc) these youth led bakery is operating but without some tools needed for a complete bakery. The bakery was started to enable at risk youth to generate income to enable them sustain their livelihoods
In Uganda there are limited occasions for youth, and especially at-risk youth, to participate in baking programs. The paucity of these programs creates an opportunity for youth-focused bakery programs to be developed, implemented, and evaluated with the goal of providing invaluable life skills and baking literacy to this potentially vulnerable group. Thus, a 6-month community-based baking program for at-risk youth was planned and implemented to improve the development and progression of baking
These at risk youth will be able to use an electric mixer to bake as many cakes as they wish as compared to a manual local way they have been using to mix dough
These youth will be able to bake and sell over 10 party (birthday, baby shower etc) cakes a day as well as over 100 mini/queen cakes a day with their new mixer hence making profit from their business
